This painting was inspired by a hike up the range above Hart River at Owen Springs (40km south west of Alice Springs), which had been subject of a controlled burn a few days before the artist arrived.  Layering different washes of ink on paper, and using the fine charcoal and ash left behind by the fire, this work captures the contrast between the burnt and unburnt areas of the land.
