Visiting Deception Island was like making a journey to the moon. Our ship entered the volcanic crater through the narrow opening of Neptune's Bellows. Inside was a otherworldly scene, seemingly devoid of life. Glaciers flow down from the edge of the crater, littered by black volcanic ash. Steam rises from the waters warmed by the active volcano (but we still gave swimming a miss!)
