Abundance Impression of Nature is an exhibition by four Canberra women artist - Marijke Gilchrist, Caroline Reid, Lucy Bastecky and Katherine Buchanan. This diverse exhibition celebrates creativity and the joy of nature, with each artist interpreting the theme in their own way.
My theme for this exhibition Abundance is “from the trees to the sea” a celebration of the rich diversity of the Australian landscape. Trees represent life and growth; sentries standing tall and still, silently watching over humankind. The ocean is a powerful, dynamic force – always moving, like a dancer expressing the full range of human emotion. The encaustic medium – with its luminous and ethereal qualities – is well suited to capturing this subject.
Only images of encaustic artist Marijke Gilchrist are shown. All works are framed
